Sausage Sampler: Sweet & Hot

I originally wrote a review and gave it one star based on the long time that it took to ship, but I am telling everyone these are worth the wait. I now changed that to five stars I will be re-ordering again for sure. It’s hard to find sausage that taste this good I will learn to be more patient and wait for my order to ship. They are delicious

The hot sausage is good. It has just the right amount of heat. The breakfast sausage is very disappointing. The breakfast sausage arrived freezer burned and that really damaged the texture and flavor. There's little to no fennel flavor in the sweet sausage, and certainly no fennel seeds. My wife likes it, but I think it's not even as good as what I can buy at the grocery store.

I was surprised that the box arrived frozen. It made it very difficult to separate the hot sausage. And separating the coil of sweet was impossible. Why wouldn’t you ship it cooled and not frozen?

It came exactly the way you explained it nice and frozen. I haven’t eaten any yet but they look like they’re very delicious especially I’m originally from New York and the sausage in Florida. I don’t wanna say the word. thank you.

A little salty...

Received the sausage last week. The sausage had freezer burn when I open it up. Looked like it was in the freezer for a long time. The sausage was so hard to get out of the box. Why don’t you make a box where a customer can easily get some links out of the box and put it back in the freezer. I’m not going to cook 10lbs of sausage at one time. Also, was excited about cooking sone of it the next day. Cook it in a skillet with peppers and onions and it was so dry. Sorry I baught it!

Would order only links in the future. Rope is to hard to handle.

I tried the sweet sausage. It was excellent.

I have not tried the Spicey one yet. I froze it for later. The sweet italian was good. My family liked it but did not think it was extra special. Perhaps they are too picky. That was a lot of sausage to use up. I finally made some meatballs with the leftovers and am enjoying them now.

I think the breakfast sausage may have spoiled prior to freezing it was discolored and had a smell (herbaceous?). I’m giving it a chance and will cook this weekend. I’d love it if you could make the sweet sausage in links like the hot easier to break up when frozen but I managed to it looks amazing can’t wait to cook tomorrow

Living in Georgia I miss the great taste of NY sausage. Esposito’s brings back fond memories of my dad making his homemade sausage when my brothers and I were kids. Ordered 5 lbs mild and 5 lbs hot sausage and it is delicious. Thanks Esposito’s, I am a loyal customer!

I tried the hot italian sausage the day it arrived-I was delighted with the flavor and spiceyness . my oly complaint while I like sausage in link vs patties yours arrived in rope which made it somewhat difficult to make into a link without thawing the entire patch-so my only questions is do you ship link style Italian sausages?

I have not received any updates on this order and it has not arrived. What do you want?

Well, the good part of the sausage was it had a fairly good flavor. Some of the negative aspects was that they come in one large 5 pound block in each you’re not able to consume it all at one time and being unable to break it apart frozen you’ll have to thaw the whole thing. The next negative thing is all the water in the 70 years. I’ve been on this planet I have not seen as much water in frozen sausages I’ve seen in yours. There was at least 3 cups of water. I don’t know to be exact, but when I thought it out in a big Tupperware container in the refrigerator, that’s how deep the water was so now I’m going to thaw the other box and save the water and then re-weigh it. I don’t want to think you padded the weight with water, but somehow something smells fishy here.

The hot sausage was not better than that produced by the grocery chain in the Texas Hill Country. My Long Island wife found the mild sausage to be bland. Definitely not worth the trouble of ordering online.

The order was placed on 1/15/25 expecting the order to arrive by 1/18/ 25 as advertised for the weekend, it arrived 1/24/25 found thrown out on the side of the road! partially THAWED OUT! The commercial leads you to believe that the sausage is made in NEW YORK! mine was shipped from Palatine, IL. As per your commercial, I expected LINKS, I got ROPE SAUSAGE, I wanted LINKS. So am I happy, NO

I would like it if you could make the sausage into links I live alone and was a pain to have to partialy thaw and cut into links and vacuum seal Other than this it is REALLY GOOD Thank you Mike Jazwinski

best Italian sausage you can buy

Order arrived in perfect condition and was exactly as placed

Product was delivered frozen. Can not use 10 pounds of frozen sausage. Frozen sausage is not fresh. Can not suggest anyone to order fresh sausage and get it frozen. Poor product. They don't reply also.

Love both the sweet and hot sausage. But can never buy again. Because you cannot guarantee that this product is Gluten free. I have members of my family that are GF. So I cannot change from other brands that are GF. Like Premio, New York Style sausage and many other New York tristate area that ship like you guys. Sorry for many people like me without a Gluten Issue your sausage is Awesome.

I expected at least one of the sausages to be links. Instead I recieved both in the rope form. Was very disappointed.

The flavor was fine but the sausage came in one long piece and when I cut it all off the meat came out with a sleeve

I am thawing one box of sausage in fridge now. It arrived covered in frost/ice looking like it might be freezer burned. The packaging boxes are not ideal for freezing compared with vacuum sealing. I was hoping the regular sausage would be links but unfortunately both boxes of sausage are ropes which means you must thaw 5 lbs of sausage at a time. I’m hoping the sausage is good but the appearance on the front end is not.

I didn't know it came frozen so I have to defrost it to cut it up. There is only 2 of us and it's way to much sausage to keep if not cut up. Very disappointed didn't want the extra work.

Only tried the hot so far, it was covered with ice throughout the box, and freezer burnt. Sweet was icy but not as bad. Haven’t tried yet

Extremely delicious. I cooked breakfast with the sausage along with grits, and eggs. I will add this delectable sausage with my spaghetti recipes.

Amazing! Seared, deglazed pan with red wine. Added home canned tomatoes, sauce, and paste. Sliced onions, green/red/orange/yellow peppers, simmered, then put in over at 375 for an hour. Fresh baked crusty bread, provolone, mozzarella...chef's kiss!

I haven't tried the Italian sausage yet but it looks like it has been in the freezer for a while but the breakfast sausage were freezer burned and tasted horrible I was expecting something much better than that from your company!!!!! Especially for what I paid for your product.

I don't know when my order was shipped .... it had no dry Ice at all .. the sausage was really not that cold ... . I know I probably should not have cooked it but I did .. 3 4 inch pieces of sweet and 2 4 inches of hot ... I did the smell test it didn't smell like it was bad but the sweet had some tan spots on it ...the hot did not have any discoloration... I don't know what happened with the shipping delay ... I certainly don't know what to do .... I put the rest in the freezer. My Wife said it just didn't taste right she only had the sweet.... ..I had both ... It didn't seem right.... I certainly would not go on your Website and say anything bad ... My Grandfather used to make homemade Sausage at our Farm in 6080 Shawnee Rd Sanborn NY 14132 back in the 40's & 50's . Best Italian sausage I've ever tasted

I wanted links but it must have been my error when I placed my order. I used the hot sausage and being from Brooklyn NY I kinda have an idea of what good sausages taste like. The Esposito sausage tasted good but I found the skin to be a little too tough for my liking. They seemed ok otherwise

Very disappointed. Did not get what we ordered. Reached out 4 times . Did not get answers. The responses stated the problem would be resolved. Still have not received the resolution. Therefore I submitted a dispute with my credit card company.

Just ordered today. I am looking forward to trying them as I have been looking for rope sausages.

Love the product. Arrived frozen. Cooked some in a pasta dish and loved it. Sent as an X-mas gift to my kids. I'll shop there again for sure.

This was our first Italian sausage order from Esposito’s. We loved it and will reorder in the future. We haven’t been able to find good sausage anywhere in Florida that compares to Esposito’s.

The sausage is delicious and lean. Really wonderful flavor and texture. My only concern is the way it arrives: 5 pounds of sausage separated by thin sheets of butcher paper and frozen together in a single block. I had planned on using about 3 pounds for Christmas Day but I ended up having to defrost all 5 pounds. We still have about 8 uncooked sausages. Technically, I can refreeze it, but I know that reduces flavor and texture and general quality. These need to be shipped so that the customer can easily use 1 pound at a time, saving the rest in the freezer. I would suggest packing them in freezer bags. (I’m not looking forward to the next 5 pound box – as delicious as the sausages are.)

Fabulous…fantastic…yummy!

The order was in my husband's name because this was one of his Christmas gifts. I was very excited to get the sausage in such a timely manner. It was frozen solid. We had some on Christmas eve and served some sausage bites as appetizers on Christmas day. Everyone enjoyed it. The hot Italian sausage was perfectly seasoned, just enough heat. The sweet Italian sausage we thought lacked taste. It needed more seasonings, in our opinion, maybe more fennel seeds. I am Italian and used to more seasoning in the sweet sausage. Having said this, we are thrilled with the sausage and will enjoy having it often. I can't remember if I can get the sausage links instead of the ropes. I'll have to look. Thank you and my husband loved his unique Christmas present. Marianne Hailey

All freezer burned. Took 2 weeks to receive. Fell ill after eating 1 sausage. Thew all of it the trash. Definitely do not recommend.

I still have not received my order from 20 days ago. And the only think I’m told is to be patient but continue to receive marketing to purchase more. You’re not going to like the Yelp review I’m going to leave.

Awful. Didn’t come vacuum sealed. Arrived completely freezer burned. Caused them to be so full of water they were literally squirting with being cooked. Also since they came frozen, I had to thaw and then cook all 5 pounds at once. Who needs 5 pounds at once?! Very disappointed. Will definitely be sticking with Vincent’s Meat Market.

This was a gift for Christmas so the product has not been enjoyed as of yet. Took a flyer off social media as how I landed on your store. Not sure recipient will enjoy as much as I hoped I would. The recipient lives in NNY and even though the local old mom and pop stores have faded into our memories, they still have more options of good Eyetailan sausage than I do living well below the Mason/Dixon line (not quite to NY of the South). I guess that is the price you pay for better weather IHMO.

Would have preferred if the sausage was links instead of rope. Also, a sheet of freezer paper between the layers would have made it easier to separate without thawing it. Flavor & texture was awesome!
